cCe's Faux Spring Break

While we both have been out of undergrad for 2 years now, I (cCe) still enjoy participating in Little C's spring break trips, especially when they are funded by our parents. I have never been on a spring break trip with friends before because it has always seemed like a better idea to go with my family (nicer hotels and food, an actual relaxing vacation, etc). This year we decided to venture to Vero Beach, FL for the first time. When I arrived on Tuesday night, my family had already been there for 3 days. I had to at least attempt to act like a grown-up and go to work on Monday and Tuesday.

Every morning we got up and rode our bikes around the island and saw beautiful houses and nature.

We would end our ride by going to eat lunch somewhere then return back to the hotel to relax on the beach for the rest of the day. I would highly recommend the Vero Beach Hotel and Spa. Not only is it the nicest hotel on the island, it is more importantly the quietest. It just so happens that the McDonogh varsity lacrosse team was staying at our hotel. They were there for a training trip and to play the Vero Beach team that was 69 games undefeated. The game was a blowout with McDonogh beating them 15-5. Way to rep the 410!

One of our favorite nights was when we went out to the Riverside Bar and Grille. In addition to good food, there was a band playing call the Landsharks. They actually used to play with Jimmy Buffett in the 80s and were phenomenal.
Another obviously important stop on our trip was the shopping. The shopping in Vero beach is a preppy girl's dream. There are little boutiques that carry all sorts of things in addition to the ever important Lilly store. We obviously had to make a stop in the store. Even Little C got excited about all things Lilly for once. We both found dresses for Preakness almost 2 months in advance.

One of the most memorable parts of the trip was renting a boat for the day. We went out on the Indian River and saw dolphins and manatees.

Mid-afternoon we decided to stop for drinks as Captain Hiram's. Little C insisted on getting a drink in a coconut while Babs was set on a bucket of voodoo juice.

All in all it was a fabulous and extremely relaxing vacation. I would definitely recommended for anyone looking to stop and slow down for a few days. While I will always love Miami, I will definitely be going back to Vero sometime soon.
